From Clothing Construction by Brown, Gorham, and Keever, 1934. It was written in order to synchronize the training of new home economics teachers with the techniques used at that time by clothing instructors in Minnesota. The book is arranged alphabetically. Belting comes before Belts. It appears that even in a slip-over dress a soft interior belting is used. It is not recommended to use the garment fabric for belting “unless it is very firm and light-weight”.
