Deciphering the Stitches

A video from the Museum of the Fashion Institute of Technology. The curators Emma McClendon, assistant curator, and Nicole Bloomfield, conservation technologist, analyze a pair of blue pants in the collection of the museum. They make many fascinating discoveries in the process.

These blue jeans were documented as part of the Paradise Valley Folklife Collection.

Features the drop fall front trousers, a dressier version of the denim pair from the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology.

  1. I love the tailoring details that can be incorporated into womens wear. For instance, I like the row of side buttons at the knee on the short pants, but I might lengthen the pants and put the buttons near the ankles. And I like the lacing detail at the center back on the pants.
