Learn how to draft or drape a pattern by starting small. Use a doll for your model. The Fashion Doll Stylist has released a series of youtube videos that make the process understandable. I think using tape to hold the thread lines in place will really help with the measuring.  It’s a wonderful low-cost way to learn the basics of patternmaking.
