Wrap-Around Slip or Dress

An interesting experiment for draping from a late 1920’s book, Designing by Draping. I haven’t tested it out yet. Will test it out by making a miniature paper model. The two pleats for ease are in the back of the slip. It occurred to me the design might make a nice summer dress if the pleats were in the front instead. Possibly pockets could be worked into the horizontal lines at the lower waist? Maybe halter straps that cross behind the neck rather than shoulder straps? A fun project for kids.

  1. The slip looks like it is very low at the bust. I’d like to see how your drape turns out. I found with my own experiments in draping that there were big differences between the illustrations and actual results. This could be the start of a cute jumper to wear with a t-shirt or turtle neck top.
